Work Is Worship
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. Colossians 3:23
Some men in this life dread going to work. This dread could be a caused by simple Monday blues, overwhelming projects, or maybe an ominous issue that has spread out of control. Whatever it is that has us down about our work, should we really dread the work we have been given?
The fact is that regardless of our current circumstances, God has sovereignly given us the work we are called to today and this work is not always exactly what we want, but God has given it to us to learn, grow, and worship him through it. In this situation in Colossae, Paul is speaking to slaves. This does not sound like great work, but it is what God had given them for the time. And Paul's word for them was to see God in their circumstances. To work as their worship. I wonder if we saw work as our worship if we might work more "heartily" in the dreaded seasons of life?
DO THIS TODAY: See work as worship.
PRAYER: I know I don't always approach work worshipfully, but may I today Lord. Give me eyes to see both what you are doing and may my attitude follow.
