"So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:33

I am always amazed that those who cook feel that they deserve a pass on the cleaning. Really? Isn't cleaning a critical part of cooking? Are not the tools used in the cooking process essential for cooking perfection? Of course. You cannot do one without the other, and you need to love both - cooking is cleaning and cleaning is cooking.

And likewise, renouncing is discipleship and discipleship is renouncing. You cannot be a disciple of Christ without renouncing all you have. They go hand in hand. They are individually a part of one whole process. Therefore if you don't renounce, you can conclude you are not a disciple. #Ouch - that one stings, but it's the point Jesus makes, not me. Many want to be disciples without renouncing, and this doesn't reason.
